ANTI-ARRHYTHMIC

Antiarrhythmics are used to treat heart rhythm disturbances called arrhythmias and to relieve symptoms associated with them. The most common symptoms of arrhythmia are palpitations, irregular heartbeats, rapid heartbeat, disorientation, dizziness, chest pain and shortness of breath. The irregular heartbeat can be caused by a congenital (from birth) or may occur if part of the heart muscle (myocardium) is irritated or damaged, resulting in a disruption or "short circuit" of the heart's electrical system. Antiarrhythmics act in different ways to slow the electrical impulses to normalize heart rhythm. Antiarrhythmic agents: Adenosine, potassium and magnesium.
